I need to get the users email in a lot of components, but I don't want to have to pass it through tons of levels of components.

Still didn't get it how context work and what it is.
I once thought that like attributes are made to pass data from a parent page/component to a child component, and context is the opposite to pass data from a child to a parent component/page.

But that's not true we do it with events.

It's a way for parent components to share formulas/workflows with child components. The shared formulas could hold state as well.
Internally, we often wrap our pages in a feature flag component which holds a number of exposed formulas that child components can subscribe to/read

the api call is on the homepage, the component that i want to get the userProfile is a child in the homepage.

If the consumer of your context is an element on the page it will not work. It must be a separate component. Not sure if you've set it up like that?

Ah that should be fine actually. I think the reason why you can't see the API data in the formula builder is because we're not executing API calls in context providers when we're showing the current value of a context provider's formulas. API calls should still be accessible once you access your preview environment, but you might need to work a bit "in the blind" in the formula editor for now. Alternatively, you can provide a (temporary) fallback value for your formula that is exposed - similarly to this https://toddle.dev/projects/purple_ben_quadinaros_substantial_beaver/branches/start/components/HomePage?leftpanel=design&canvas-width=800&canvas-height=800&rightpanel=style&selection=formulas.Sht-80

We're aware of this limitation and are considering different options to solve it.

I would tend to store the API data into a variable first and then expose the variable through the context formula & that would also overcome this.

Ah right, yeah I'd usually put the shape of the object in the variable's initial value but Erik's Default to is a good way to go
